Gross = Net × (1 + rate) • Net = Gross ÷ (1 + rate) • VAT = Gross − Net

When do I use 'Add VAT' vs 'Extract VAT'?

Use 'Add VAT' when your price is VAT-exclusive (net) and you want to know the selling price. Use 'Extract VAT' when the price already includes VAT (VAT-inclusive) and you want to know the net portion.

Are all businesses required to charge VAT?

No. Only VAT-registered businesses charge 12% VAT. Non-VAT businesses charge percentage tax (3% or 1% during the CREATE law transition) instead. Check your BIR Certificate of Registration.
